چکیده

Abstract Introduction Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) is a rare, non-atherosclerotic, non-inflammatory vascular disorder that primarily affects renal and cerebrovascular vessels. Limited data are available on the clinical characteristics of FMD, particularly from UK/Europe. Methods We performed retrospective cohort analysis all cases carotid/cerebrovascular FMD presenting to our regional service, by case-note review, searching relevant databases. Results Eighty-six patients were identified between 1998–2020. Stroke or TIA was most common mode presentation. The frequent pattern bilateral extracranial internal carotid artery FMD. Concomitant complications - dissection, aneurysm occlusive disease carotid, vertebral cerebral vessels (41%) included two cavernous fistula. also observed in renal/visceral aorta 13(15%) (60% those who had imaging), with 5% having dissection other 19(22%) required intervention (mainly for intracranial aneurysm), 10% requiring complications. Recurrent events (stroke/TIAs aneurysmal intervention) seen 23% cases. Overall mortality 7% over median follow-up period 47 months. Conclusion co-existence high requires careful surveillance. Vascular beds probably under-estimated. would recommend low threshold routine imaging Take-home message rare but when as stroke, may be involved,

Dissection and Aneurysm in Patients With Fibromuscular Dysplasia: Findings From the U.S. Registry for FMD.

BACKGROUND Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) is a noninflammatory arterial disease that predominantly affects women. The arterial manifestations may include beading, stenosis, aneurysm, dissection, or tortuosity. OBJECTIVES This study compared the frequency, location, and outcomes of FMD patients with aneurysm and/or dissection to those of patients without. METHODS The U.S. Registry for FMD inv...

Fibromuscular Dysplasia.

The most common clinical manifestations of fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) are hypertension due to renal artery involvement and transient ischemic attack or stroke due to carotid or vertebral artery involvement. Patients with renal artery FMD and hypertension should undergo primary angioplasty with the goal of curing the hypertension. If the blood pressure fails to normalize following angioplasty...

Fibromuscular dysplasia

Fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD), formerly called fibromuscular fibroplasia, is a group of nonatherosclerotic, noninflammatory arterial diseases that most commonly involve the renal and carotid arteries. The prevalence of symptomatic renal artery FMD is about 4/1000 and the prevalence of cervicocranial FMD is probably half that. Histological classification discriminates three main subtypes, intima...

Fibromuscular Dysplasia

The circulatory system is made up of the heart and blood vessels. There are 3 major types of blood vessels: arteries, veins, and lymphatics. The heart is the pumping organ and helps to push oxygenand nutrient-rich blood through the arteries to the organs and the limbs. The veins return blood from the organs and limbs to the heart so that it can be resupplied with oxygen from the lungs. The lymp...
